PROBLEM:
An aging chilled water plant was unreliable, expensive to operate and the piping system was incapable of reaching the low temperatures needed for production. Even though the system was not perfect, it could not be shut down.
SOLUTION:
Enginuity worked with the owner to install a new chilled water plant with Turbocor oil-free magnetic bearing compressors on SMARDT water-cooled chillers. The project involved taking parts of the existing system offline and installing the new components without disrupting production. During the installation, the piping was redesigned with bridge circuitry to maintain required water temperature with varying process flows and loading.
